Students benefit from NJV assistance

The Namosi Joint Venture (NJV) has assisted 100 tertiary students from the province of Namosi and Tikina Waidina, Naitasiri as part of its Education Assistance Programme for semester 1, 2013.

The total value of assistance for this semester stands at $130,000.

Over the last 4 years NJV has spent over $800,000 on its Education Assistance Programme.

NJV Country Manager Greg Morris said support for education and training is a central value for the company.
“A good education creates future opportunities for the recipients and these benefits will flow through to the communities. NJV strongly believes in the value of education and training, and the resources we put into this shows our commitment to community support and development in the areas we operate in,” he said.

“In 2013 we will work closely with educators, the Tikina Namosi Landowners Committee (TNLC) and other stakeholders to review the results, and how our programme has been utilised to ensure funds are used effectively and reaps the maximum benefit to the recipients and the provinces.”

Leone Tauleka from Namosi who completed his postgraduate studies through NJV’s assistance thanked the company for the programme.

“The assistance is a beacon of hope for the children of Namosi and the Tikina Waidina of Naitasiri in providing them with financial assistance to undertake and complete their education. It also helps them to realise their dreams can become a reality in finding their career paths,” he said.

Another student that has graduated through NJV’s assistance is Rosalia Kalouniuca of Navunikabi village, Namosi who was a awarded a certificate in teaching last year from Corpus Christie College.

“Through the assistance education for me began to flow as I wasn’t worried about my fee and with that also I was able to successfully complete my education,” she said.
